Leith Community Centre Ceilidh (Ticketed Event)

Join us for an evening of free Scottish food & dancing as part of our fiftieth anniversary celebrations. No dance experience is required as our live ceilidh band will call the dances and talk us through them as we go, we can all learn together. Take part in some or all of the dances. This is a dress as you please ceilidh, dress in whatever you feel most comfortable in. All over 12’s welcome. Come alone or bring friends & family. This is an alcohol free venue. Trinity House Packs A Punch

On June 12th Trinity House Packs a Punch – come inside from midday to view a new exhibition about Leith’s legendary boxers like Ken Buchanan and Jackie Brown. You can explore local sports heritage by looking at archive photography. Perhaps you used to spar? If so, there’ll be opportunity to grab a ringside seat and tell us your tales from the ropes. You’re sure to come out fighting! At 2pm visitors can also enjoy a tour of Trinity House with our junior guides from Leith Primary School.

LeithLate19: Mural Tours (Ticketed Event)

Sunday 9th June sees the return of LeithLate’s legendary Mural Tours, involving a guided walking tour of a selection of Leith’s public art murals, with the added bonus of having a few of the original artists in attendance to talk about their work. Featured murals on the tour include: the Leith History Mural, the Leith Dockers Mural and The Leith Aquatic on Henderson Street. Mural Tours will start at the Leith History Mural at 12pm and 2.30pm, please book your (free) ticket in advance via Citizen Ticket.

House of Jack Dance Class Tasters for All Ages

Free 30-minute street dance tasters for all, from Primary 1 to adults – dance in a fun, encouraging environment!  Open to everyone, no previous experience needed. Tasters will run as: 1 pm – Primary 1-3.  1.45 pm – Primary 4-7.  2.30 pm – Secondary 1-5.  3.15 pm – Adults hip hop.  4 pm – Adults house.  4.45 pm – Adults 80s and 90s. Meditation Centre Open Day

Are you curious about meditation and/or Buddhism and would like to check out our city temple on 172 Leith Walk? If so, put Sunday, 9th June, on your calendar. From 10am-3pm, we’ll be serving up delicious refreshments prepared onsite, and providing tours of the temple as well as free guided meditations (10:30 – 11:00pm, 12:00 – 12:30pm, and 2:00 – 2:30pm). Whether you’re completely new to KMC Edinburgh or have visited our temple before, you’re welcome to come along and join in the fun!

Sunday Service

Leith Churches Together – This year’s Leith Festival Service will take place on Sunday 9 June at 11:30 am in Pilrig St. Paul’s Church. This year the service coincides with Pentecost and everyone is encouraged to wear Red, Orange, and/or Yellow (flame colours) as we celebrate the Holy Spirit at work through the lives of God’s people. Professor Jolyon Mitchell from New College, Edinburgh University will be our Guest Preacher. Please note the later start time of the service.

Leith Festival Pageant started in 1907; keep the tradition alive and join us for a celebration of Leith’s maritime heritage. Pageant Departure The Pageant will begin at 12pm on Saturday 8th June 2019, assembling at the bottom of BALFOUR STREET, AT PILRIG PARK ENTRANCE. All participants must be ready at the assembly point between 11:30am – 11.45am. Pageant Route The Pageant will move towards the top of Balfour Street, turning left onto Leith Walk.
