Pageant Departure The Pageant will begin at 12pm on Saturday 8th June 2019, assembling at the bottom of BALFOUR STREET, AT PILRIG PARK ENTRANCE. For the first time at Quality Yard Art Studios 6 local artists will be opening their new studios and exhibition area, to Leith Festival visitors, offering a glimpse behind the scenes and the opportunity to meet the artists. Following Andy Cumming’s successful month long Edinburgh Art Festival 2018 Pop Up exhibition the Quality Yard studios have now been fully reconfigured with 6 studios and 150 square foot stand alone exhibition area. The Cube Project

The Cube is an inclusive platform that anyone can take part in. It is sparky creativity and collaboration. Come along to Quality Yard on 8th June and have a doodle on a cube. Trinity House Open Day

A Window to Leith

4 Doors Down

‘4 Doors down’ is a new public art initiative in the old town of Leith. Four humble doors in Maritime Lane and Maritime Street will showcase how new street art on these unloved and unused doorways can entertain, inspire and brighten a small corner of Leith for residents, workers and visiting tourists during June 2019 and beyond. Under the guidance of the Leith Festival and Leith Late experienced talented street artists will be given the opportunity to create urban artworks for the Leith Festival. During the Festival feedback on this project from residents, businesses and tourists will be taken.

Lapidary Demonstration and Displays

Lapidary is the art and craft of cutting, shaping and polishing rough stones or minerals and turning them into beautiful creations that can be used as jewellery or ornaments. Our primary aim is to ‘encourage an interest in natural minerals and the craftsmanship related to them, on a non-commercial basis’. Visitors can view these skills as members prepare stones, facet gemstones or do silverwork during the normal working week or may try gold panning (Saturdays / Sundays).
