It’s Au revoir
(but not goodbye)
to longstanding board member Rita Crombie.
Rita Crombie has served on the board of Leith Festival since before there was a board – being a committee member when the decision was taken to constitute and officially register as a charity in 2005. Prior to this Leith Festival existed in various forms since it’s beginnings in 1907. Over the last 20 odd years Rita has seen the festival through it’s best (and worst) times. She has been instrumental in many of our activities including the annual Christmas in Leith Tree Lighting, which is alas no more as the tree has now been moved away from the kirkgate, and Carols in the Kirkgate by the local schools which we hope will continue with ongoing support. Not to mention the festival and gala day itself, where Rita along with many others have worked to make this happen year on year.
Rita has lived, worked and contributed to the community of Leith for many years, but this year has decided it was time to hang up her Leith Festival boots, and resigned from the board at our recent AGM. While we will miss her knowledge, expertise and input, we understand her decision to stand down after so long. It is not goodbye though – Rita will be continuing to volunteer with us, and remains a fantastic friend and supporter to the festival. We will no doubt continue to ask for her advice, and her influence will be felt for long after the current serving board members have moved on as well.
so it’s Au revoir Rita! but not goodbye….
